Adaptive Skills

Choose a learning path, install the library, use your first skill, or explore the architecture and governance behind Adaptive Skills.

Adaptive Skills is a portable library of small, reusable capabilities for disciplined AI-assisted work.

It helps people and AI agents choose an appropriate way to approach a task, produce a reviewable result, and avoid turning every request into improvised prompting.

Try it in two minutes

Start with one low-risk task instead of installing the whole library:

npx skills add nevitonsantana/adaptive-skills --skill workflow

Ask your agent to use workflow before beginning the task. It should make the goal, scope, proof, and next step explicit. When you are ready, add feature-planning and testing from the quickstart.

Tell us what changed, what failed, and whether you would use the skill again in GitHub Discussions.

Your first successful use

Understand the boundary

Adaptive Skills provides reusable execution guidance. It is not an autonomous agent, runtime, project manager, or approval authority.

Install a small set

Begin with workflow, feature-planning, and testing, or install only the one skill needed for your task.

Choose from the task

Identify the dominant need: clarify intent, plan, implement, debug, review, validate, communicate, or hand off.

Apply and verify

Use the skill’s core moves, produce its expected output, and check its verification criteria before closing the task.

Important boundary

Creator

Adaptive Skills was created and is maintained by Neviton Santana, a Staff/Principal Designer working across product design, complex systems, artificial intelligence, and governed AI-assisted work.
